POEM:
THE NEED FOR AN EFFORT
by Adama Konate
"It is not easy to
become someone
We must have the courage
of selflessness
We must sacrifice
Here, a man is not reckoned
by its origins,
but according to his work
Your parents may be pretty powerful gentlemen,
But if you do not fulfill
your own duties
you will not escape the
reprimand.
Here, it's the personal values
that matter.
You see, if the son of the last peasant
can be distinguished by his efforts,
he will exceed and surpass you
And you will become his servant.
Never stop to learn a trade
Because foreign aid is always
short and ephemeral
and always leads to laziness.
At the same time,
learn a profession is eternal
And you will always carry it with you
for your entire life.
Never leave your books,
notebooks and pens.
Learn: deprive yourself of sleep,
Do not worry about your body
Live with life's difficulties
as a farmer
or as a soldier
that neglects the comfort
Put your Heart in your study
and tomorrow you
will be someone!"
